The Night Shift is an original concept art inspired by an extended hospital stay. She came to me in the quiet darkness, the entire wing now asleep as they were bereft of personnel needing their attention. Quiet nights for any space of time in the hospital are rare and haunting, and in the quiet lay the whispers of those who had gone before. Those who had slipped away during the pandemic without fanfare. Those who went to sleep and never rose; another step we all must take in the end of our crazy lives. The hum of life, the whisper of death, and who will claim the lost?
